Since March 2020, artist Carly Glovinski has carefully captured the sunset. She reuses jars—mainly those from food products—and carefully layers in colorful sand to re-create how the sky looks. Since she started her project, she’s made hundreds of unique sunsets.

Each jar is inspired by a real sunset Glovinski saw in a field near her studio in Dover, New Hampshire. The project helped her mark the passage of time during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Each sunset is a moment preserved that represents a calmer place and time.
