On a cold, dark night two centuries ago, a group of friends came up with a challenge to pass the time: Who could write the greatest ghost story? One competitor, Mary Shelley, stitched together a story about a scientist and his monstrous creation. This tale became the novel Frankenstein, which was first published in 1818. The tale follows scientist Victor Frankenstein. After discovering the recipe for life, he creates a new person from old body parts. But the creature is so horrific-looking that Victor bolts, setting in motion a wild chase between a mad scientist and a surprisingly sensitive monster!
