Today, Greta Thunberg is one of the best-known climate activists in the world. But it all started small: In the summer of 2018, she began holding a one-person climate protest. With her parents’ permission, 15-year-old Greta would skip school every Friday and sit outside the Swedish parliament building with a sign that read “School Strike for Climate.” Since then, students around the world inspired by Greta have held their own strikes for climate justice. Now 18, Greta continues to fight climate change by speaking out.
